Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, the Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) regime is becoming mandatory for certain people, such as accountants, solicitors, and company formation agents who file documents or verify identity on behalf of clients at Companies House. ACSPs are supervised for anti-money laundering purposes and have an existing duty to conduct due diligence checks on clients, as well as their identify are verified.
ACSPs will carry out identity verification checks on directors, PSCs and those who deliver documents to the Registrar on behalf of companies. These processes deliver the same identity assurance as the direct route, in compliance with the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
